President's Innovation Initiative Micro-Grant Program
The President's Innovation Initiative (Pii) Micro-Grant Program is a new small-scale funding opportunity at Utah State University, sponsored by Commercial Enterprises. There are no deadlines for these grants; they are open-submission.
The Micro-Grant Program exists to enable researchers at Utah State University to develop next-stage technology attractive to third parties for larger scale commercial development or licensing.
The Micro-Grant Program has been developed to support researchers developing prototypes. Micro-Grant awards are available to all Utah State University faculty for the development of technologies that meet the following conditions:
The technology is the subject of a disclosure, which has been made to the Utah State University Intellectual Property Services Office.
The technology can be developed to a stage where it is more likely to attract larger scale funding or a licensee within 6 months and within the limited budget of the award.
To apply for a Micro-Grant award, please complete the Micro-Grant Application available below. You will be contacted within 30 days. Should you be awarded you will be asked to provide a budget breakdown for your project, and a chart field number for the award funds.
The award will be paid in two equal installments. The first installment will be paid upon receipt of the signed award letter, budget, and chart field. The second installment can be requested by contacting Commercial Enterprises and the Intellectual Property Services Manager responsible for the invention disclosure form relevant to your Micro-Grant to report on your progress.
Funding will be available for a period not to exceed 12 months from the date of your award, and you will be required to submit a report detailing your results within 30 days of the end of the funding period. A presentation to the Commercialization Coordinating Council upon grant fulfillment may be requested.
